What is Aromatherapy?
Aroma means scent, and therapy means treatment. Aromatherapy, then, is the use of the fragrant parts of aromatic plants to improve your health and general well being. It is a form of complementary therapy designed to treat the whole person and not just the symptom or disease by assisting the body's natural ability to balance, regulate, heal and maintain itself by using essential oils.
Essential Oils - what are they?
An essential oil is a natural product extracted from a single plant species. They are the fragrant, highly concentrated natural constituents that are found in plants where giving the plant its characteristic odour and contain the healing power of the plant from which it was extracted.
How it works
Essential oils consist of tiny aromatic molecules that are readily absorbed via the skin, and whilst breathing they enter the lungs. These therapeutic constituents next enter the bloodstream and are carried around the body where they can deliver their beneficial healing powers. Because they are highly concentrated, only a small quantity of essential oil is required to bring about results.
